About AKHS-A (Aga Khan Health Service-Afghanistan):

Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

Job Description:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Job summary:

Assist Provincial health Team to develop systematic and realistic HMIS/M&E plan, conducting monitoring visit applied Quantified Quality Checklist (QQC), data collection/entry in DIHS2 proceed, analyse, interpretation, used to provision of service and management of health information system, and conducting training for the health facilities staff, Provide support to CBHC to conducting CAAC and household survey, and  Work with the PHT Health Team in Bamiyan for ensuring better data collection and management.

  1. Ensure that the health facilities properly use the HMIS formats and sending the reports to the PHT.
  2. Ensure appropriate record keeping and statistical information is maintained.
  3. Managing data and database for Community Health program.
  4. Manage HMIS task effectively and report to national office.
  5. Maintain HMIS database for CHP.
  6. Train and support HF Staff on using the Quantified Quality Matrix (QQM).
  7. Responsible for the supervision of Health Posts and Health Facilities in relation to the data collection and use of HMIS format.
  8. Conduct regular monthly field visits to monitor and supervise staff for handling of HMIS formats properly and accurate reporting.
  9. Maintain effective regular communication with field, regional and national offices.
  10. Involve with the Provincial Health Team in day-to-day management of the office.
  11. Training of the health facilities staff on using of HMIS formats ensure consistency, validity, and completeness of the data.
  12. Represent CHP, Bamiyan Region on HMIS activities.
  13. Managing Training for Health Facility Staff as a Training Focal Point
  14. Analysis of quantified quality checklist.
  15. Manage HMIS -DHIS2 databases.
  16. Provide monthly HMIS feedback to Health facilities.
  17. Assist in quality HMIS data generation and quality data entry.
  18. Train surveyors on survey formats and methodology of survey data collection (CAAC)
  19. Ensure on time request and supply of HMIS Tools to HFs.
  20. Any other required tasks given by the line supervisor and Project managers.

Job Requirements:

Education: Medical Doctor or Bachelor of Public Health from a recognized university.

Work Experience:

At least 3 years’ experience of working in program area especially on Health Management Information System (HMIS), supervision, and evaluation. familiar with the communities, also familiar with conducting assessments, surveys, and data analysis.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of DHIS2, TBIS and MLIS databases, BPHS and EPHS, good computer skills, communication skills, problem solving and reporting skills.
  • Possesses strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), time management, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Good sense of urgency to accomplish tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and deliver high quality results with a positive attitude.
  • Promotes a healthy and professional environment within the team.
